Pool companies, their pool products and the installation are not equal! And buying a great pool alone can not be complete without a proper installation. So how do you best proceed? You have to Go Shopping and collect detailed information! Become educated on the different types of pools available and what they're made of. Do not rush through this process. Take your time, ask questions and get the facts. Some folks try to shop for their pool by making telephone calls and just asking the price of a particular size of pool. They have now learned only a pool price. They have also become very confused to learn that the prices they were quoted vary by maybe a thousand dollars or more for what they think to be the same pool. The only similarity is the size of the swim area. The fact you have learned is that only the prices vary! We'll offer you some tips to help see though some of the advertising and marketing schemes that you may uncover in your shopping pursuit. Some competitors advertise very low prices for their pools and/or installation. Sadly, some of these companies are not even located in our State. At first blush, their ad appears to offer just what you're looking for in a new pool - and what a great price! If it seems TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE . . . it is exactly that. Others may offer or quote a low price on the phone to get you in the door or to get into yours. Remember this rule: the laws of economics prevent you from paying a little and getting a lot!

Some entities, in order to try to justify their advertising claims, will give you some reason why you can't get the advertised pool this year and then try to switch you to another much more expensive pool, because: that advertised pool has been sold out for this year or they may just hand you a "booklet" full of all of their requirements and legalese that you must complete first, then "you may purchase" the advertised pool. It saddens us to see that this happens in our market area every year.  We still call this "bait and switch" even though it's a legal run around the law because they did not refuse to sell the advertised pool to you. They like also to use high pressure tactics in order to sell you a pool. Some companies advertise low prices which state a low price to build your pool or state that you can get it installed for only a minimal amount. In reality that price is to just set-up the pool structure and set the pool liner and on a very minimal excavated site. Even then, part of the installation cost has been shifted into the price to purchase the components. Now you are asked to Pay Extra for more digging and completing the rest of the job or can do it yourself! Some of these Extra items are, getting your own building permit where they are required, filtration system set-up and assembly, properly cutting-in the pool liner for the skimmer and return inlets, plumbing, pool light installation, ladder and accessory assemblies, chemical feeder installation, pool care and use instruction, system operations, backfilling, and job site clean-up. Beware of unknown extra charges for excavation to level your pool site, charged by the inch or additional costs for pool foundation support blocks and pool basing materials.
